Silly Sun in the Mud
Sophia wanted to paint a giant yellow sun. She stood in the wet garden with Bunny. Splash! Sophia painted a big yellow circle on the gray stone wall. "Look, Bunny!" she giggled, pointing with her messy blue brush.
Plip, plop, ploosh! Big rain fell from the sky. The rain ran down the stone wall. Oh no! Sophia's bright yellow paint began to slide and drip. The giant sun was melting away into a big yellow puddle.
Sophia felt hot. Her tummy felt tight. She stomped her boots in the mud. "No, no, no!" she cried, her face turning very red. Bunny sat in the wet grass, looking very sad and droopy.
Mom and Bubs looked out from the cozy kitchen. Bubs opened the door and waved. "Let's make a rainproof sun!" Bubs called out. Sophia took a big, deep breath. Her angry tummy felt a little softer.
Sophia marched through the wet grass. Bunny rode on her shoulder. They searched and searched. Sophia found shiny gray pebbles. She found bright orange leaves. "Look, Bubs! Shiny!" she shouted, her big smile returning.
Together, they pressed the pebbles and leaves onto the wet stone wall. Press, squish, pat! They built a beautiful, bumpy sun. The rain came down, but the new sun did not wash away. It stayed bright and shiny.
Sophia giggled and did a happy dance. But then, she slipped! Oh! Sophia slid right into a big, squishy mud puddle. Bunny tumbled down too, landing right on top of her head like a silly furry hat.
Mom and Bubs laughed and laughed. Sophia looked up at Bunny on her head and let out a giant squeal of joy. They were all muddy, but they had their very own sun that would never melt away.
