Purple Flour and the Snail Castle

Rosy loved her quiet mornings in the cozy kitchen. With her trusted Unicorn sitting on the stool beside her, she carefully measured out a cup of flour. Today, she was making her special purple-sparkle dough, her favorite thing in the world.

Suddenly, a little hand reached up and grabbed the wooden spoon. It was her little sister, Wren. Wren wanted to stir, but she was stirring far too fast. Rosy felt her cheeks grow hot and her chest tighten up.

Wren spilled a cloud of white flour all over the counter. Rosy frowned deeply, her eyes wide with frustration. She did not want to share her special baking time, not today. She wanted her quiet space back.

To escape the messy kitchen, Rosy packed her things and went to daycare. The daycare garden was quiet and damp from the morning dew. Her best friend, Ava, was already waiting by the big green leaves near the fence.

Rosy and Ava knelt in the soft dirt, gently lifting the heavy leaves. They were on a grand hunt. Soon, they found exactly what they were looking for: three tiny, perfect snails with beautiful swirling shells.

Rosy imagined the snails were royal builders, constructing a secret kingdom under the leaves. She told Ava all about the snail king and queen. In her mind, the garden transformed into a glittering, magical forest.

When Rosy returned home, the house was quiet. She decided to build a safe place where she could play all by herself. She gathered purple blankets and built a magnificent fort in the living room.

Inside the fort, the light turned a beautiful, glowing lavender. Rosy sat cross-legged with Unicorn and shuffled her favorite Magic Snail Deck. She lined up the cards, pretending the royal snails were holding a grand meeting.

A soft rustling sound came from the entrance of the fort. The blanket lifted, and Wren peeked inside. She held her favorite stuffed bear and looked at Rosy with big, hopeful eyes, wanting to join the secret club.

Rosy felt a squeeze in her tummy. This was her private kingdom. But then, she looked at the cards, and then at Wren's hopeful face. She remembered how much fun it was to share stories with Ava in the garden.

Slowly, Rosy held out a card. It showed a snail with a purple crown. Wren's face lit up with a giant, joyful smile. She crawled inside and sat down very quietly, holding the card like a precious treasure.

Together, they built a castle out of pillows for the snail cards. Rosy spoke in a grand voice, telling the tale of the brave snails, while Wren listened happily, copying Rosy's hand gestures and nodding along.

The fairy lights inside the fort twinkled like real stars. Rosy looked at her little sister, who was now gently patting Unicorn on the nose. The fort felt warmer and cozier than it ever had when she was alone.

As the evening grew late, Wren leaned her head against Rosy's shoulder, yawning softly. Rosy closed her eyes and smiled. She wondered quietly to herself if the real garden snails were also sharing their cozy castles tonight.
