Frost Queen of the Pumpkin Lane
A silver gown lay across the rug like a pool of winter ice. Lily touched the smooth, cool fabric with one finger. Halloween had arrived, and her quiet room felt full of magic. She was ready to become the Frost Queen.
Lily carefully placed the Crystalline Crown onto her black hair. She looked in the mirror and stood very tall. Dolphin splashed gently in his indoor water basin nearby, his wet nose nudging a pink toy teacup in approval.
Outside, the evening air was cool and mysterious. Shadows danced under the streetlamps. Lily walked down the sidewalk, her silver gown rustling softly. Dolphin glided gracefully in a floating bubble of water right beside her, keeping her company.
A strange, low sound came from a nearby porch. Whooo-ooo. Lily stopped. She did not run. Instead, she took a slow breath and pointed her silver wand. A friendly paper ghost was swinging gently in the autumn breeze.
Further down the path, a warm orange light caught Lily's eye. Sitting on a sturdy wooden porch was the Giant Pumpkin. It was the biggest pumpkin Lily had ever seen, glowing with a happy, wide-toothed smile.
Lily walked up to the porch and sat down on the step right next to the massive pumpkin. She reached out and patted its cool, bumpy orange skin. Dolphin floated close, his eyes reflecting the warm, flickering candlelight.
She reached into her small treat bag and pulled out two tiny pink cups. She placed one in front of the glowing pumpkin and held the other. "Would you like some warm tea, giant pumpkin?" Lily whispered.
