Dancing Under the Paper Stars

The warm sun of San Jose Del Cabo kissed Blake's cheeks. She stood by the sparkling water, holding her favorite pink beach ball. Her friend Hazel was already splashing, making giant, happy waves. Fish floated safely in his little travel bowl on a nearby table, watching the fun.

Splish! Splash! Blake jumped right into the shallow step. The cool water felt so good. Hazel tossed the pink beach ball, and it bounced with a soft squeak. Fish blew tiny bubbles of approval from his bowl. Yellow Butterfly fluttered above them, dancing in the warm breeze.

After their swim, it was time for a sandy adventure. Blake and Hazel ran down to the warm, golden sand. The ocean waves went hush, hush, hush. The Frog hopped along the shore, leaving tiny star-shaped footprints in the wet sand. Blake laughed and tried to hop just like him.

Blake sat down to draw in the sand with a smooth wooden stick. She drew a big, round circle. 'Look, Hazel! It is a giant avocado!' Blake said proudly. Hazel added little seashell eyes to the drawing. The Frog sat on a pink towel, looking very impressed with their sandy art.

As the sun began to lower, the town plaza filled with bright colors. Yellow Butterfly guided them toward a special table covered in flowers. It was time for Dia de Los Muertos. Blake sat very still, her heart beating with excitement. A kind artist held a soft paint brush.

The brush tickled Blake's nose. She giggled and wiggled her toes. The artist painted beautiful pink petals around her eyes and a cute black nose. Hazel got her face painted too, with bright yellow marigold designs. They looked like happy, friendly skeletons.

Blake looked in the mirror and gasped. She looked so magical, just like the puppets on her favorite colorful show. She turned to Hazel and gave her a giant hug. 'We are skeleton twins!' Hazel cheered. Fish watched from his bowl on the table, blowing three round bubbles.

The delicious smell of warm tortillas filled the air. Blake's tummy gave a little rumble. 'Tacos!' she whispered. They walked over to a bright wooden stand. Blake ordered a special taco filled with fresh, green avocado slices. It was the best treat in the whole world.

Blake took a big, happy bite. Crunch! A little piece of green avocado fell right onto her nose. Hazel laughed, and Blake laughed too, pointing at her green nose. Even The Frog, sitting on a wooden stool, seemed to smile at the silly avocado mess.

The sky turned a deep, beautiful purple, and the paper banners began to glow. Music started to play. Trumpets went toot-toot, and drums went boom-boom. The Dia de Los Muertos parade was beginning. Blake held Hazel's hand tightly, feeling the exciting rhythm in her feet.

People marched by in beautiful costumes, dancing and spinning. Blake felt her independent spirit spark. She stepped forward and began to dance. She spun in a circle, her pink skirt swirling. Yellow Butterfly flew in circles around her, matching her every move.

Hazel joined in, shaking some colorful maracas. Shake, shake, shake! The Frog hopped onto a big drum, bouncing up and down to the beat. Blake laughed and shook her hands in the air. The whole plaza felt alive with love, memory, and happy music.

Suddenly, a big machine started blowing thousands of glowing bubbles into the night air. They floated like tiny, shiny planets under the paper stars. Blake went quiet. She stopped dancing and looked up in pure wonder, her eyes wide as the bubbles drifted down.

One giant bubble landed softly on the very tip of Blake's painted nose. It sat there for a second, glowing pink. Then, pop! It splashed a tiny drop of bubble water right onto her avocado spot. Blake blinked, completely surprised by the wet tickle.

Blake let out a loud, happy giggle that made Hazel laugh too. The Frog did a silly backflip off the drum, landing right into Fish's travel bowl with a gentle splash. Fish looked up, startled, as the frog sat in the water like it was a tiny hot tub.
