Tailored for the Savannah

Abby sat quietly in the heart of the Willow Glade, her fingers working a piece of silver thread through a scrap of bright fabric. The afternoon was still, and she liked it that way. Her thoughts had room to stretch.

A soft rustle in the ferns announced Fox, who trotted out with a bundle of dried lavender and a perfectly flat maple leaf. Fox dropped them at Abby's feet, tilting his head to inspect her latest creation.

Today, the glade was not just a meadow; it was the grand design studio of the forest. Abby picked up the Blue Velvet Cape she had spent all morning finishing. It was her masterpiece, soft and perfectly stitched.

Fox stepped onto the Runway Tree, parading with his tail held high. Abby draped a collar of woven yellow buttercups over his shoulders. He strutted down the mossy bark, pausing to strike a dramatic pose.

Suddenly, the heavy willow branches parted. A massive golden figure stepped into the clearing. Lion stood there, his great amber eyes blinking in the soft light. Fox froze, his buttercup collar slipping slightly.

Abby did not run. She stood her ground, observing the visitor. Lion did not look fierce; in fact, he was looking wistfully at the Runway Tree, his magnificent mane looking slightly tangled and dusty.

Lion took a slow, heavy step forward and sat down with a soft thump. He looked at Fox's floral collar, then at Abby's basket of fabrics, letting out a quiet, hopeful sigh that stirred the dandelion seeds.

Abby understood. True style was for everyone who appreciated it. She walked over to her basket, selecting a wide ribbon of gold silk and her favorite wooden comb. "May I?" she asked quietly.

Lion bowed his massive head, letting Abby reach his tangled mane. Fox watched from the safety of the Runway Tree, his ears twitching as Abby began to gently comb through the thick, golden fur.

With careful precision, Abby braided a section of the mane, weaving the gold silk ribbon through the strands. She secured it with a polished wooden bead. Lion remained perfectly still, holding his breath in anticipation.

Next, she draped the Blue Velvet Cape over his broad shoulders. It was far too small to cover him, sitting like a jaunty, elegant napkin, but the contrast of blue against his golden fur was stunning.

Abby stepped back to admire her work. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the glade. Lion looked magnificent, a perfect blend of wild majesty and high forest fashion.

They retreated to the Cozy Hollow as the evening chill rolled in. Inside, the lanterns cast a warm glow. Lion tried to squeeze his massive frame through the entrance, his tail wiggling with excitement.

Once inside, Lion lay down carefully, making sure not to wrinkle his new cape. He looked down at his paws, then at Fox, and let out a mighty, rumbling sneeze that blew Abby's entire basket of fabric scraps right onto Fox's head.
